Hidden away in the city of Toronto is The Coven of the Koy Moon, a secret society of witches. They live in fear of being discovered by Carnifex, an ancient order of witch hunters. Humans, or “Voids”, are unaware of the battle being waged on their streets.

Rebellious witch Halley Highcroft goes on a forbidden date with a “Void” named Bella Black. Bella is gravely injured and Halley’s healing powers are revealed to the world by Skylar, Bella’s 14 year-old sister. Skylar uploads a video to Instagram, setting off a chain of events that leads to Skylar’s kidnapping and Halley’s best friend Killian Drake being attacked by a Carnifex assassin.

Killian is a Knight of The Order dedicated to protecting the Coven. The Carnifex assassin mortally wounds Killian with a poison tipped blade and Halley uses her powers to save Killian’s life. Though cautious about Halley’s recklessness, the Order realize she has formidable healing powers and ask her to join their ranks. Halley and Killian secretly search for Skylar with the aid of Halley’s brother Malchior Highcroft, a student of magical history and ancient spells. Their investigation is done without permission from the Order, who forbid them from meddling in Void affairs. Halley also continues her forbidden romance with Bella.
